With Mark Zuckerberg’s recent announcement about the changing Facebook algorithms, it is so important for companies to start being creative with their digital marketing strategies and create more meaningful content for their followers. When talking about the changes that will be made to Facebook, Zuckerberg said, “The first changes you’ll see will be in News Feed, where you can expect to see more from your friends, family, and groups.”

There is going to be a much greater emphasis on Facebook groups this year, and so I’ve come up with 6 ways to you can use Facebook groups to grow your marketing.

1. Providing Value

Providing value to the members of your Facebook group is one of the most important things to keep in mind. You want to ask yourself this question: “How will people’s lives be improved because they joined my Facebook group?” You don’t want to just be like every other group out there. Try to find a unique or different approach that you can take to make yourself stand out. You want to make sure that you are actually helping the members of your group fulfill their needs through the content that you post or by answering the questions to their problems.

2. Promoting Events

Is your company planning an upcoming event that you would like a lot of people to attend? Well, Facebook groups are a great way to promote these events. And because groups allow for any members to post, it is also helpful for discovering new events that members may know of. It could be anything from a local community event to an online live stream or webinar that you think your group would be interested in.

3. Building Community

Gone are the days when paid advertising was enough to get engagement and interaction on your social media channels. Establishing genuine relationships and building a community within your social media channels is crucial. Facebook groups are perfect for establishing this because it brings together people of similar interests or work fields all in the same place. Because Facebook groups give every member the ability to post their content, this maximizes engagement and participation. Members can ask questions or advice, take polls, post videos, and helpful content, and so much more. This will rapidly build strong relationships between the members of your group.

4. Establishing Authority

When you are the owner of a successful Facebook group, it automatically establishes you and your company’s authority within your field. It shows that you know what you’re doing, and others are willing to join your group because they want to learn from your expertise. You also further this building of authority by answering questions and become a problem-solver for your members. One thing that you should make sure to avoid is too much self-promotion. You don’t want to be constantly posting about yourself or your company. Discuss your expertise in a natural way through participating in relevant conversations.

5. Get Good Feedback

Facebook groups are great for getting feedback on your latest ideas. You can get honest opinions from many different people, and this will help you to determine whether your ideas will be successful or not. You can also get feedback on your current products or services to see what could possibly be changed or improved.

6. Avoid Spam

Avoiding spam within your Facebook group is extremely important. If all members see are self-promotion posts or content that looks like spam, they will immediately leave your group. Sometimes there will be members who constantly post this type of content. It would be a good idea to remove members such as these. You want to ensure that everyone is contributing helpful content to your Facebook group community.
